Opening of Fraunhofer laboratories at Roche – Penzberg and Martinsried move closer together

With political presence, the first laboratories of the Fraunhofer site for immunology, infection and pandemic research were opened today in Penzberg/Munich at Roche. The aim of the new Fraunhofer site is to identify and characterize pandemic pathogens and to develop new diagnostics and therapies. In collaboration with Roche, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität-Munich and LMU Klinikum in Großhadern/Martinsried, Fraunhofer aims to advance precision medicine. Networking will bring the already strong biotech locations even closer together – to form an ecosystem with international appeal.

The site is headed by Michael Hölscher, who is also part of the bayresq.net research network.
