On November 14, 2024, scientists and staff gathered for the 8th members’ meeting of bayresq.net to present the results of recent years. The Bavarian research network focuses on innovative approaches to combat multidrug-resistant pathogens and has achieved significant progress in research, diagnostics, and practical applications.
The network’s projects have produced outstanding tools and methods that significantly advance the understanding and mitigation of resistance. Highlights include DGrowthR for growth data analysis (StressRegNet), isoCorrectoR and FastRet for processing metabolomics data (Metabodefense), and the MASON web server for developing RNA-based antibiotics (Rbiotics). Additionally, an online platform from Helicopredict facilitates resistance prediction for Helicobacter pylori, contributing to faster and more effective treatment strategies.
A key focus moving forward is translation: intensifying efforts to turn research findings into practical applications. The cost-neutral extension until 2025 provides the necessary time to further expand the network’s success. In their closing remarks, Prof. Dr. Horst Domdey and Dr. Ulrike Kaltenhauser emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and strengthening Bavaria as a leading hub for science and technology.
bayresq.net demonstrates that innovative research and digital networking can create sustainable solutions for global challenges.
